Born in Argentina, Mía Maestro went to Berlin to become a cabaret singer and then made a splashy big-screen debut in the Oscar-nominated foreign film Tango (1998). She made it to American arthouses in Timecode (2000)which was the first of what would be several roles opposite Salma Hayek.
